Tips for Remembering Road Signs

Use these proven strategies to memorise Singapore's road signs quickly and retain them for your BTT.

Learn by Colour

Associate colours with meanings: Red = Prohibition/Danger, Yellow = Warning, Blue = Mandatory instruction, Green = Information. Colour recognition is instant and automatic.

Identify by Shape

Shape recognition works even at night or from a distance before you can read text. Octagon = STOP, Triangle = Warning, Circle = Regulatory/Mandatory, Rectangle = Information.

Spaced Repetition

Review signs in short, frequent study sessions rather than one long cramming session. Look at 10 signs per day, revisiting those you got wrong first. Space your reviews over 2 weeks.

Spot Signs on the Road

As a passenger in a car, bus or taxi, actively identify signs as you pass them. Say the sign name and meaning aloud. Real-world exposure reinforces classroom study far more effectively.
